kbi://about/history

Our History

Knowledge Base International Schools (KBI Schools) was established in 2012 in Moniya, Ibadan, on a simple conviction: that quality education should be built on both strong academics and strong character. What began as a small nursery and primary school serving families in the Moniya community has, over more than a decade, grown into a full Crèche-to-Senior-Secondary institution, taking pupils all the way through Common Entrance, BECE, WAEC and NECO.

Along the way, KBI Schools has built a tradition of annual milestones that mark its growth each year — Founders' Day, Inter-House Sports and Cultural Day among them — and has continued to modernise its academic offering, most recently introducing STEM, Coding & Robotics education and upgrading Computer Studies into a compulsory Digital Technologies subject, to keep pace with a changing world.

kbi://about/management-history

Management History

KBI Schools was founded in 2012 under the guidance of its Board of Directors, including Revd George Okikiolu and Funke Okikiolu-Fadesere — the latter having served as the school's own administrative head in its earlier years, before the couple relocated to Belfast. Babatunde Awoyemi, a STEM Education specialist trained in Physics and Atmospheric Physics at the University of Ibadan, has served as the school's academic consultant, driving the introduction of STEM, Coding & Robotics and the Prevocational Skills programme.

As the school expanded from its original nursery/primary base into a full Crèche-to-SSS3 institution, day-to-day administration passed to a resident School Administrator and Principal overseeing Nursery, Primary and Secondary (KBI College) operations respectively, while the Board continues to provide strategic and academic oversight.

kbi://about/prefects

Prefects

Student leadership at KBI College is built around a prefect system. Prefects are identified by badges and are expected to model the school's values of discipline and responsibility for their peers — selection is based on academic standing, conduct and demonstrated leadership, and prefects serve for one academic session.
